Typical uses of the COBOL checker are presented in the following videos :

  • The first video presents the use of the RainCode Checker to detect rule offenses in a COBOL project.
  • The second video presents the way the Eclipse plugin is used to generate PDF reports on a coding session. A sample report is associated to this video.
  • The RainCode Checker can also be used to display trends for a specific project. The third video explains how easily these trends are accessed.
  • The fourth video presents one of the main features of the RainCode Checker : the high level of customization available to the user. It demonstrates how easily a new rule can be added in a specific rule set.
  • The fifth video presents how one can ensure that the rules implemented in a specific rule set correspond to the required behavior, using regression tests
  • The last video presents the way the RainCode Checker qualifies the rules implemented in a specific rule set, ensuring that these rules are ready to be audited, which is of utmost importance for safety critical systems.

The RainCode Checker is based on the COBOL RainCode Engine, a scriptable source code analysis tool which natively recognizes several versions of the COBOL language, including a number of proprietary extensions. More information is available here.
